Slow Burn Book Review

I had the pleasure to review Slow Burn by Leona Bushman. She asked for her friends and family on Facebook if we would be interested in being testers for her upcoming book. And being the book worm that I am I of course jumped all over that.

I'll try not to give away too many spoilers, cause honestly you just have to order the book and read it yourself.

Right from the get go I was hooked. The book started off great, not slow but not to fast either. The pace was amazing. It kept me interested enough that I read the book from cover to cover (is that even still a thing when you are reading it on your kindle?) in one sitting.

The story had enough action and romance in it to keep me rooting for the main characters. True to form there are some sex scenes in it, so I wouldn't suggest letting your teenager read it unless you are comfortable with kind of thing. If you are more power to you. The characters relationship with each other is built throughout the book. You get to see them go from being shy and unsure of their relationship with each other to something so strong and unbreakable by the end. Then again I am a sucker for a good relationship -- especially when their are hard times. And seriously whats harder than starting a relationship in the middle of a zombie Apocalypse? You can feel the love these two have for each other and the children.

The concept she has of zombies is something I had never read in a book before. They are not your normal shambling dumb zombies just wandering around looking for their next brain to devour. These zombies are actually very intelligent. That is a breath of fresh air because it give this book something unique that most zombie stories lack because they're basically all the same shambling zombies you always get in books and movies. I love the fact that animals are not immune to turning into the walking dead either. Granted sad when a few of the main animals lose their lives -- but that is the animal lover in me. No one and nothing is immune to becoming walking corpses.

Have I got your interest peaked yet?

If so go pre-order her book today, or get your copy on October 25th via Amazon. All Romance ebooke (ARe), Bookstrand, Smashwords, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, etc will be released as soon as Smashwords releases them.
